Good morning oily people!
I want to introduce you to a series on…. Oily Gifts! I will share oils, products, and DIY projects for different categories of recipients. This is something you can look back on for shopping and home making gifts! If you’re just a pinch as excited as I am about this then we’re good. The next few weeks you’ll see gift suggestions for Outdoorsmen, Pet Lovers and Gym Rats. There is much much more to come, those just may help while we’re still in these beautiful summer months. So without further ado…
Gifts for Sun Lovers!
Let’s start with some oils. First off we have a summer favorite: Carrot Seed Oil. This oil is a sun must have. Carrot seed (Daucus carota) essential oil has a mildly sweet aroma with earthy, herbaceous hints. Used for multiple ailments, what we are focusing on for this purpose is that its 35 SPF quality. Mixed with coconut oil is will keep the sun’s sting away without hammering the body with chemicals. A word to the wise, you will have to reapply more often than conventional sun lotion! Still, this is an oil not to pass over during the hot summer months! UPDATE: You may want to add a nano-free zinc oxide for homemade creams.
My other oil pick is the oil that NO ONE should be without. If you have to have one oil, have Lavender. It’s especially good for sun lovers. This soothes stressed skin and i supportive to the skin after being outdoors. Lavender also keeps flies and sand fleas away, and a few drops on your towel will bring relaxation and calm as you sun. A couple drops on your temples may bring a calming aroma while driving home from the beach, and comes in handy with the inevitable scrapes that little people tagging along come home with. Any beach bum will benefit from lovely Lavender!
Next up, we have LavaDerm Cooling Mist from Young Living. This is hands down the best After Sun Spray. It can be calming and sooth, stressed skin after being outdoors, and rejuvenates skin to its healthy summer glow. This is a great gift for any sun lover, teacher getting off for the summer, or parent preparing for summer fun.
Now let’s get to my favorite part… homemade gifts. For about 2 years now I strive to give 100% of my gifts homemade. It’s economical for me, I get to put love and attention into them, and it’s my version of fun. Stick me in a corner with a project and I’m happy as a clam! Here are two recipes to keep you busy if you’re like me!
